"This is the second time I stayed at this hotel because it's fairly close to the interstate. The first time around there were some irritations but I shrugged them off as maybe one time deals. Unfortunately this time around, the problems were more than just a minor irritation. First, when I drove up, the woman from the front desk was standing out in front of the main entrance smoking a cigarette -- very unprofessional and tacky! She just smelled of cigarettes and proceeded to check me. She assigned me the LAST room at the end of the building. I don't know why this was necessary as the hotel parking lot looked quite empty to the amount of rooms that were much closer to the main office. I drove down there, got all my luggage and proceeded to key-in to my room. The key was NOT programmed properly so I had to drive back to the office to get a key that worked. Then, I tried to use the phone to call my family using my calling card. The phone did not work. I called the front desk and she said, "oh, I'm sorry, I forgot to turn on your phone... give me a minute, hun." Then, when I went to take a shower, the water was intermittently hot then cold, I gave up and figured I'd try in the morning to take a decent shower. The light in the bathroom (flourescent type) had a hard time turning on and would flicker off and on. The shower did the same thing. The alarm clock/clock radio did not work and I woke up late. I did manage to check out early but I was not on the road at the time I wanted to be. Upon check out, I mentioned to the manager about my problem w/ the shower. Her attitude was very unprofessional and she basically shrugged me off. She proceeded to insult my intelligence, advising me that I may NOT have been turning the knob properly. While I do NOT have proper training in the operation of or educated in the finer details of shower knob operation in my MBA studies, I bit my tongue and did not stoop to her level of disrespect. She did not even bother to apologize or even offer either a discount, a coupon for future Ramada stays or anything. I wasn't expecting it, but in my line of work, we'd rather show good faith on our company's part and keep the customer happy. Neither was done in this case. I'm usually a very patient and forgiving person. This experience has completely soured my taste for this establishment and am pretty sure I will NOT stay at another Ramada location. I'd rather pay more for better service and a staff that actually strives to exceed their customers' expectations."
